Tour Program

Unique springtime dog sledding way up in the mountains. The road that leads over the Valdresflya Plateau is closed during the winter but it is opened up again during the month of April. Experience being a Musher for a day. Take care of your pack of huskies and learn to run the sled dogs in the backyard of the Jotunheimen National Park. This spectacular dog sled trip is the perfect winter getaway in Norway for those who fancy a touch of adventure.

In the course of 5-6 hrs you will get many new experiences

  • Visit the home of our 50 amazing husky friends.
  • Learn about sled dogs and dog sledding. Ask your guide anything you ever wondered about this sport.
  • Participate in the whole process, from preparing your sled, harnessing the dogs to learning to steer your own team (approx. 20-35 kms tour). As in any real adventure, the route will be dictated by the conditions of the day.
  • Half way through, we settle down and set up a day camp with open fire and reindeer skins. While the dogs get a snack and take a nap in the snow, the guide will show you how to prepare a real wilderness lunch.

What to bring

DON’T FORGET

Although it gets warmer in spring, Valdres Flye is a high plateau in the mountains. It is a windy place, even very windy. It is important that you dress according to Norwegian weather.

We have some equipment you can borrow, but please check our How to dress guide to make sure you dress accordingly.

Feel free to bring any extra snacks and refreshments.

Who can join

VERY IMPORTANT

No previous experience is required to go dog sledding, just a motivation for learning new skills. Steering the sled is a physical activity that requires a normal good condition and a reasonable sense of balance.

It may be possible to join as a passenger for the entire tour, but we need to know beforehand so we can plan accordingly. Note: additional cost may apply in certain situations.

Children under 14 years old will be sitting on the sled. Children under 6 will normally sit together with a parent. If your child is under 6 years old, we would like to have a talk with you before confirming the tour. It's your responsibility to evaluate if your children should join one of our tours before proceeding with a final booking.

Pregnant women are not allowed to join dog sledding tours. Contact us if you have questions.
